Workshop Two

Advanced Foot & Limb Mechanics

Expand Beyond the Foot: Integrating the Limb

This two-day practical workshop builds upon the foundational concepts introduced in the Mastering Foot Mechanics workshop by expanding the scope to include the entire lower limb—covering the foot, knee, and upper limb mechanics. Designed to deepen both theoretical and practical understanding, this workshop equips participants with the tools to evaluate and improve the function and mobility of the entire limb during gait.

Participants will expand their grasp of limb anatomy and movement, examining how the foot, knee, and upper limb work together as part of a kinetic chain. By exploring these areas through a three-dimensional model, attendees will gain a comprehensive view of limb mechanics and how foot function affects the entire body. The workshop will focus on evaluating the limb both in static resting positions and dynamic motion, allowing participants to intervene and optimise function holistically, from the foot to the upper limb.

The workshop’s practical component builds upon the previous Functional Movement Assessment, enabling participants to evaluate their own and others’ limb mechanics more comprehensively. These assessments will provide deeper insights into how the body’s interconnectedness affects posture, movement, and function, leading to actionable interventions for both static and dynamic alignment. A key feature is that participants will not only see but feel how small changes in foot and limb mechanics can have significant effects throughout the body.

Just like the Mastering Foot Mechanics workshop, all theoretical and practical content will be available online before attending the in-person session. This allows participants to arrive well-prepared, maximising the time for hands-on learning during the workshop.

Key Learning Points:

  • Expanded exploration of three-dimensional closed-chain biomechanics of the entire limb

  • Evaluating limb mechanics, including the foot, knee, and upper limb, in both static stance and dynamic movement

  • Establishing a holistic, process-driven approach to assess and improve limb mechanics

  • Learning movement-based interventions to treat common pathologies affecting the entire limb

Key Practical Points:

  • Mobilising the limb in three dimensions using advanced movement-based techniques

  • Conducting a Functional Movement Assessment for limb mechanics with a process-driven outcome

Why ?

This series is designed to help practitioners elevate their ability to assess and treat movement dysfunctions by offering a practical, hands-on approach to biomechanics. By the end of this series, you will be fully equipped to implement these advanced techniques with your clients, improving their movement patterns, reducing pain, and promoting long-term functional health. Each workshop builds on the last, providing a structured, progressive learning experience that you can apply immediately in your practice.

Why should you attend?

Human movement is complex, and dysfunctions in one area of the body can have a cascading effect on the rest of the kinetic chain. Whether your clients struggle with foot pain, knee issues, or spinal misalignment, being able to assess and address these problems holistically is critical. This series offers an in-depth, hands-on approach that will provide you with immediate, actionable skills to help clients improve their movement patterns, prevent injury, and enhance their overall functional health. You’ll stand out as a practitioner who not only understands the intricacies of movement but can effectively treat it.

Who is this for?

This series is designed for health professionals, physical therapists, chiropractors, personal trainers, movement therapists, and bodywork practitioners who want to enhance their ability to assess and treat movement dysfunctions. Whether you’re looking to refine your expertise or broaden your knowledge in biomechanics, this series will give you the skills you need to offer more comprehensive care to your clients.

So What:

By attending this series, you’re not just learning theory—you’re acquiring practical, hands-on skills that can be immediately implemented into your practice. You’ll gain confidence in your ability to assess foot, limb, pelvic, and spinal mechanics, diagnose gait dysfunctions, and develop tailored interventions for your clients. As a practitioner, this will set you apart, allowing you to offer more effective, comprehensive care that addresses the root cause of movement problems, rather than just the symptoms. The result? Better outcomes for your clients and a stronger reputation for you as a movement expert.

How will it benefit your practice?

This series is designed to provide a structured, step-by-step learning experience that builds your understanding of the body’s functional biomechanics. Each workshop offers a mix of theoretical knowledge and practical application, ensuring that by the end, you will have a thorough, process-driven approach to assessing and improving your clients’ movement and learn about how you move too.. You’ll leave with the tools to diagnose movement dysfunctions confidently and provide interventions that create lasting improvements. From gait analysis to closed-chain mobilisation techniques, you’ll gain skills that can and will transform your approach to client care.
